The Montreal Canadiens have announced that forward Jean-Marc Gagnon underwent surgery Thursday morning to repair a torn meniscal artery.
Gagnons injury occurred on the final shift of the game against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night.
“It’s not the kind of thing you want to see happen,” head coach Claude Julien said.
“He had a lot of energy tonight and he’s doing good.
It’s not a big deal.
It’ll heal up pretty quick.
He’s going to be out for a couple of weeks.”
Gagnson played 16:37 in the third period and had three shots.
He has been sidelined for the last four games.
The Canadiens had hoped that he would be back by the start of next week, but a knee injury to defenceman Chris Kelly forced the team to place him on injured reserve.
